10 Best Xbox Games of 2014 That Nobody Can Forget

2014 was a bizarre year. It was a year of HD premasters and “Conclusive Editions” on Xbox One, or more heaps of cross-gen games discharged on both Xbox 360 and Xbox 1. Few games genuinely emerged – especially on 360 – so making our yearly Game of the Year list in the not so distant future was troublesome. So here is the list of 10 best Xbox games of 2014 that no buddy can forget.

Problems Only 90s Gamers Could Understand

With the PS1 turned 20 last December it’s got us thinking about gaming in the 90s. We complain a lot these days, but there were a lot of problems with gaming back then that we all seemed to ignore. If you were a gamer in the 90s you’d know all about these particular problems…

Battlefield 1 has only 5 singleplayer episodes

According to DICE, there will be 5 different “War Stories” to choose from in Battlefield 1 singleplayer campaign. They are designed to encompass different theaters of WWI, like the Arabian theater (recall the Lawrence of Arabia) or the European theatre.

The details of the 5 playable War Stories have been specified by DICE.

The fact that they are named “War Stories” instead of plain, old missions probably lies in the fact that there are only 5 of them, which might cause an uproar in a large portion of Battlefield community.

Here are the different Battlefield 1 War Stories, i.e. singleplayer episodes:
  • Friends in High Places features aerial combat in Europe between the German and British forces.
  • Nothing Is Written is set in the Arabian peninsula where the Arabs are rebelling against the Ottoman Empire.
  • Through Mud and Blood is set in France during the height of the trench warfare battles.
  • Avanti Savoia is set in the Alps and features battles between Italy and the Austro-Hungarian empire.
  • The Runner features the “Gallipoli Landings”, often called the “D-Day of World War 1”.
Singleplayer was never a strong aspect of the Battlefield franchise...

Battlefield 1 releases on October 21st for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Suicide Silence to Unleash Self-Titled Album in February 2017

Deathcore band from California, Suicide Silence, have announced their fifth studio album that is set to come out in February of 2017.

The new full-length album will be self-titled, produced by Ross Robinson, a studio legend who worked on iconic releases such as Slipknot’s Iowa, Sepultura’s Roots and Korn’s self titled album. The release was announced by the band on SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal station, and it’s going to happen under the wing of Nuclear Blast.

This is going to be the band’s second album with Eddie Hermida on vocals, as he replaced Mitch Lucker in 2012 after his tragic and untimely death. Suicide Silence may be the first album of the band that will have no lyrical content written by Lucker – 2014’s title track of You Can’t Stop Me featured lyrics that Lucker wrote before he passed.

“The music in itself is something that you’re not going to be expecting from us,” says guitarist Mark Heylmun. “That’s really all you can say. It’s going to be the newest Suicide Silence you’ve ever heard.”

“We decided to call it Suicide Silence pretty much before we even started writing because we knew we were gonna go with a no holds barred, fearless approach to the record and not put any restraints on ourselves or stick to some formula that we very well could stick to cause we know how to play our music,” adds vocalist Eddie Hermida. “But for this one, we dug f–kin’ deep and Ross is the sickest producer and Joe Barresi just finished mixing it. So we’ve got the rawest, realest approach to recording. It’s a raw, real record and it’ll be out February 2017 on Nuclear Blast.”

“It makes perfect sense. [Robinson and Barresi] are a dream team and it’s such an honor to have those dudes in our corner telling us how f–king badass our new record is,” Heylmun gushes. “It’s out of this world, man,” Eddie adds. “If Ross and Joe love it, then everyone’s gonna like it, and if you don’t like it, good.”

“We were paying homage [to Lucker on our last album], paying respects to the legacy that was left behind, but now it’s time to pick up the reins and it’s a new band and it’s a new entity and it’s the perfect opportunity for a band to redefine themselves, to show the world who we really are deep down inside,” Hermida describes. “We’re not little kids anymore and we’re not trying to prove ourselves in the heavy community. We’ve already made our name there and it’s time to spread our wings and see what happens. You can only learn how to fly by jumping off the cliff.”

A co-headlining U.S. tour with Whitechapel and support from Carnifex and Oceano has already been announced, and started September 28.

The Last Guardian Has Changed Over The Last Year - Graphics Comparison

There’s an interesting video to be seen at the channel of the YouTuber ‘Cycu1’ that compares footage of The Last Guardian from E3 2015 to last week’s footage.

The first thing that can be noticed right off the bat are the changes made to Trico: smaller wings and tail, and his feathers have been made darker. It’s interesting to see there are changes still being made to the main character even in a game that’s been in development for 10 years – it could be about development or simply character design.

Another thing when it comes to Trico is that there are more effects that improve the factor of believability, such as dust and shadow that are now visible when the bridge falls, and the backgrounds are also made more detailed.

The game has been recently delayed again, and will be released on PS4 on December 7th.

Jurassic World 2 is going to cost $110m more than Jurassic World

The next installment in the Jurassic Park series, the sequel of Jurassic World, currently going under the working title of Ancient Futures, will start filming early next year. Replacing Colin Trevorrow in the director’s chair will be Juan Antonio Bayona. Expect more dinosaurs to show up, though, as the early suggestion is that this film will be far more expensive than the last one.

Juan Antonio Bayona revealed in an interview to a Spanish magazine El Pais Seminal that the working budget for Jurassic World 2 is $260m, which is an upgrade from the $150m reportedly spent on Jurassic World. The extra $110m surely suggest improvement and some spectacular effects that we are going to see. The total is already more than four times the price of the first movie in the franchise.

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will be leading the cast once again, and the story picks up after the events that transpired in the last movie. The shooting for Jurassic World 2 will start in February, and the release is expected on June 22nd 2018. Bayona also confirmed that the film already has a title, but that is to be revealed on a later date.

GTA inspired Tokyo 42 coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One in 2017

A game described as the mix of Syndicate and Grand Theft Auto 1, Tokyo 42, is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017. The game developer is the indie studio Smac Games, and the news comes from Mode 7, the publisher of the game.

According to the publisher, the game features an open world single player mode (and a significant one at that), a complete story and many side-quests, and also a multiplayer mode in the form of a competitive arena. The character you play as plunges head-first into a future Tokyo brimming with assassins and cutthroats, and has to complete missions from terminals and “handlers” to build his underworld reputation and funds.

It’s an “action game to its core” according to Mode 7’s description, and combat is quite engaging due to full physics of bullets and grenades – you will be required to weave and dodge your way to success. There are many weapons for you to choose from: katanas, machine guns, sniper rifles, pistols, etc. The open world also comes with many secret areas that you can only access by manipulating the game’s camera, and it will be fully explorable.

An assassin game, of course, wouldn’t be what it was without stealth. There will be times when you’ll have to take to the rooftops to avoid detection, pull off stealthy snipes and even sneak into gang strongholds. Also, you will be able to change your character’s skin color to shake off anyone who might be on your trail by blending in with the crowd.

The multiplayer Arena Mode is pretty straightforward: you and your opponent will be spawned on a random place in the arena, and will have to eliminate each other.
