Star Wars: Battlefront - Battle Of Jakku trailer

Update: Star Wars: Battlefront gets a new trailer, which highlights the game's link to The Force Awakens. Take a look...
Update: It says a lot about Star Wars' allure that EA can create so much interest with relatively tiny snippets of footage. Take out the logos, pre-order details and other bits of garnish from the trailer below, and it probably only amounts to about 18 seconds of proper, retina-grabbing imagery.

Fortunately, those 18 seconds are worth having a gander at. They tease the fabled Battle of Jakku - the war which takes place 29 years before the events of The Force Awakens, as the Empire suffers its final death throes. In short, Star Wars: Battlefront will show us the moment where the big Star Destroyer we keep seeing in the film trailers actually crashes into the desert planet.

As you're probably aware by now, Star Wars: Battlefront is out on the 19th November for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One. We've a feeling quite a number of people will purchase a copy.

Earlier story: A distinct hint of melancholy threads through the first half of Sony's new trailer for its Star Wars: Battlefront PlayStation 4 bundle, which will, as its name implies, package a Star Wars-themed console with EA's forthcoming blaster.

"Has your sense of childhood joy and wonderment been broken on the wheel of adulthood?" the ad seems to ask. "Then fear not! Star Wars is coming to the rescue!"

Like the game itself, the advert conjures up a heady brew of nostalgia, before unleashing the promise of a shooter that will truly make us feel as though we've been whisked off to the Lucasverse.

We  really like the dog dressed as an At-At.
