“Hotel Transylvania 2” by Sony is doing better than its predecessor in worldwide box office, as it has crossed the $400 million milestone, compared to $358 million total that the first part of this 3D animated comedy had earned in 2012.
The sequel earned $48 million in its opening weekend in the U.S., which is a new record for a September opening – and it was previously held by its predecessor.
The international total is currently at $241.1 million, with $24 million earned in the U.K. and a million less in Mexico, while the domestic total is $161.3 million.
Both films were directed by Genndy Tartakovsky with scripts by Robert Smigel. We already know that another sequel is coming, in September 2018.
