Nicolas Cage Joins Oliver Stone’s ‘Snowden’

“Snowden”, a controversial story by Oliver Stone, is getting a new addition to the cast, the famous Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage is going to be playing as an ex-Intelligence Official of the U.S. government.

A non-fiction take on the Snowden story called “Citizenfour” by Laura Poitras has already won an award in the “best documentary” category.

Scenes in the “Snowden” will be filmed all around the world until the middle of the May, currently taking place in the capital of Germany, Berlin.

In addition to the main character played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, many other actors like: Zachary Quinto, Shailene Woodley and Tom Wilkinson, will help in filming.

The rights to the two book titles regarding the Snowden controversy were acquired by the Stone Path Films, who are in charge of production in partnership with Moritz Borman and Eric Kopeloff. The titles were “Time of the Octopus” by Anatoly Kucherena - a Russian lawyer who was defending Snowden, and “The Snowden Files, The Inside Story of the World’s Most Wanted Man” by Luke Harding.

For those not informed, Edward Snowden was charged with breaking the Espionage Act and stealing the government secrets from NSA. He temporarily took refuge on Russian soil after his passport was revoked.

The film is scheduled to be released on December 25. In the U.S. and December 30. In France.
